Mozart on the way!

The Magic Flute

Mozart's the Magic freakin Flute! I have to say, there are certain things that just can get my all jazzed up. Beautiful women (who are beautiful on the inside), electronics and music. Not your basic radio with a chorus and refrain crap, but melodic, cascading, moving, swaying music.

I think I feel in love with trance/techno because of the overall complexity it can get, but also at its core its goal is to move you. Basic movements, layer upon lay of melody, building up until your mental state is straining for the crescendo to break and your brain catches up with your senses.

Even before my love for trance/techno, I had a passion for musicals and showtunes. No, not the flamebait Broadway way. Just the ability to convey through song and tune, emotion and feeling. The production of it all always made me want to see more and more.

The thing that started it all for me then was when I was 6 or 7, and I was watching TV and happen to turn on PBS. At the time, this was the only channel that had odd shows, plus my Electric Company. haha. One afternoon, I turned on PBS and low and behold this old song comes on and I was hooked. Everything was sung, in German, but the melody, the music! I was entranced immediately. I remember my brothers asking me what the heck I was watching. Then one of them told me what it was, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - The Magic Flute.

I have only seen it once in production, and unfortunately the production was not what I hoped. I hoped to be able to see it in NYC one day.

So our favorite thespian, Kennth Branagh, is at it again with a movie version of The Magic Flute. I hope you take the chance to experience this great story, and hear the amazing songs.
