We knew then...
I remember 4 years ago when someone told me about a young Senator that was speaking at the DNC. I told her that I just can't listen to any more Democratic bs, with the utter waste of a chance to win back the White House. We had the golden boy with John Kerry, and the ending of a horrible precidency. We should have won in '04, but instead threw away the chance with in fighting and confusion. The GOP out-smarted and outmaneuvered us at the end.
I still believed in the party so I told her I would spend the evening watching the DNC.
What happened to me after listening to this young man speak, made me think to myself that there's still hope. I was moved by his story because it was like that of my parents and of most immigrant parents. That night I knew he would be running for President and we would all be moved by him when he does. I remember arguing with my boss that week about why I would vote for Kerry, while he pointed reasons for Bush. In the back of my mind, I just wanted Obama to be there to counter.
2004 was a long time ago, but that night during the DNC I knew we would have someone special when the time came.
Now is the time. Yes. We. Can
2004 Democratic Convention
