College Bowl Season!

It's that time again. The college football season has ended (with quite a bang!). It's time to start watching bowl games. Always great to see different matches of teams that rarely play each other. We get to see conferences figure out new schemes and tactics against opponents never faced.

It is sad that 4 weeks ago Oregon was talking about playing for the National Championship, and now we are at the Brut Sun Bowl in El Paso. *yeah* We had another meltdown at the end of the year. This time with a bit of validation, but still not acceptable. I won't get into my feelings about why the coaches could not prepare the team for 3 wins again sub par opponents. I save that for another post. Oregon is on a 3 year bowl losing streak. The latest was a bit of a sad and understated ass whoopin from BYU. The coaches underestimated and under prepared the team, and we got served. Hard. I hope for a better outcome this year, come Dec. 31th.

As for the reason of the college football world. I am a proponent of a college playoff system, or at least a Final Four playoff. After Saturday's crazy finishes, there really is no TRUE first and second best team in the nation. 8 teams have a legitimate argument of being called that best team in the nation, and playing for the championship. We are left with "voters" and crazy computers deciding for us.

Like last year, we have OSU getting in after playing the 119th hardest schedule in the nation and not finishing undefeated. LSU gets in due to winning at the right times, but not playing as the best team in the nation.

Again, we get drama in the bowl system and again there are no real good explanations. I hope they ended the BCS group soon. At least I get to watch Juice Williams play USC. That's gonna be a great game.

Go Ducks!
